Legionella Training Course

An introduction to the chemistry of water

An Introduction to the Control of Legionella Bacteria in Water Systems. A brief summary of scale, corrosion, suspended solids and microbiological activity associated with water. A brief summary of scale, corrosion, suspended solids and microbiological activity associated with water. Water and its use in cooling towers and cooling systems. Water and its use in hot and cold water systems. The history of Legionella and Legionnaires' disease. Legionella risks in cooling towers and cooling systems. Legionella risks in hot and cold water systems. An introduction to the Health and Safety Commissions Approved Code of Practice and Guidance (ACoP). Case studies, a review of selected case studies involving Legionella and Legionnaires' disease. Examination, short test of competence covering course content. Upon successful completion of the examination candidates will receive a Legionella Control 'Certificate of Competence' Discussion and feedback including practical examples and experiences from the course tutors.
